Before THE Big Day

April 4, 2014.

A day before the wedding, when I should have been just pampering myself and resting, I was attending several last-minute chores.

My initial itineray was to pack my things in the morning, pick up my gown, visit the dentist, have my eyebrows threaded, have my mani and pedi, and finally have a massage and body scrub. After those, check-in to the hotel and just enjoy the rest of the day.

But this was what happened..

I woke up early but couldn’t get myself to get up (was super tired from the previous day). While preparing to go to the dentist, J asked if I could meet his friend, one of the bridesmaids, who would fit (for the first time since she was based in Singapore) her gown and get the Jack Daniels she gave us. I went and ‘assisted’ (more like just showing myself up!).  While she was fitting, I settled my balances.

I brought the JD home and then went to my bestfriend’s clinic to have my prophylaxis.

It was almost 11am when I finished. I needed to leave the house at 2pm so we could check in at 3. It would take me an hour to reach the massage and spa salon, two hours to complete the treatment and another hour to get home.  That meant I would be home by 3pm and still pack my things.  Since Shobe would just follow, I asked my uncle to bring us to the hotel. We agreed at 2pm because he still had another appointment.

So from the clinic, I headed home and packed my things. I finished packing at 2pm in time to leave the house.

I was with the two elders, my mom and my aunt, and my nephew.  It meant I had to attend to myself and them.

After checking in, I intended to go to the mall to buy the fruits for offering, lime and lemon for the cocktails, and have my nails done.

But since J and his family were on their way and their room key was with me, I couldnt leave.  I couldnt rely on my mom and my aunt to assist J because they were afraid of operating the elevator.

When J arrived we still had to arrange our dinner. It was the two of us who even ordered the food for 15pax!

After dinner, J’s mom and I went out for our mani/pedi. We were looking for a solan near the hotel but one was already closed while the othet one only had one manicurist. So we decided to go to the mall instead. Was praying that it was still open since it was already 9pm.

Fortunately one salon still accommodated us but only one of us could avail the foot spa because it was almost closing time.

When we returned, J and I still had to finalise the seat assignment (and I should tell you it wasnt easy!!) while J’s family were packaging the favors and cutting out the table numbers.

Late into the night, I texted my aunt (my father’s sister) to tell her not to leave early so they could just go straight to the church. However, when I texted they were already on their way. It was one of my major worries then since I wasnt sure where to direct them to proceed. I wasnt hesitant to direct them to the hotel since I wasnt very sure of the hotel’s leniency towards the maximun number of guests. What I did then was to direct them to my another aunt’s house which they were more familiar with.

While all this was happening, my mom was bugging me to go up and rest. But could I when there were still things to be done and I was waiting for my family coming from the province. I didnt have anyone to delegate the tasks to.

And so at around 3am on my wedding day, I finally got to sleep and rest!

Happy 1st Month, Honey! ♥♥♥

My Girls Said Yes!!

After several weeks of hesitating, I finally had the courage and confidence to ask my friends to be my bridesmaids!

And they all said Yes!!

When I was younger and my friends were starting to get married, I told myself that my bridal party would just be the remaining single ladies. In recent years, though, I told myself that I would just get one from highschool and one from college. How I was going to choose? Drawlots!!! Hahaha! Sssshhh…tHe real reason was except for one, all my bestfriends are married now which means I wouldnt have bridal entourage! Lol!!

While planning this wedding, though, something changed! I wanted ALL my bestfriends with me!! But since I didnt want them shouldering the gowns, I hesitated asking.

Anyways since they all agreed, I am now writing this entry.

From highschool: Cat, Che, Jane. If only Jeng were here, she will definitely be with us!
From college: Anne, Cris, Ryah.
These two groups know me inside out and even though I dont get to see them often, these ladies are for keeps!

I also have two additional: Candy and Majo who are both J’s friends. Majo was instrumental in our courtship while Candy is part of our love story (she has been with from day 1 and who, together with her family, is our constant companion and travel buddy.

I want everything simple but different for our wedding. So when I was searching the net for pegs of their gowns, I was attracted to non-traditional dresses (at least here in the Philippines).

Below are my pegs:

However, I discovered that my fiance is the traditional type! So at the end we decided on a traditional chiffon cocktail dresses. Its ok atleast it passed the ‘simple’ requirement! 🙂

The Wedding

As my friends and the few (yet) of my followers know, I just got engaged. Im supposed to create a separate blog that will document the preparation and all the other wedding details and journalize our thoughts and emotions as we check, meet and nego with suppliers and scout for our wedding supplies but decided to just add another category.

I will be sharing the details here under The Wedding soon. For now here are two reminders for soon-to-be brides like me:
