Status Quo

I’ve mentioned here the suppossed re-org in the department. As updated to me yesterday the cascade was scheduled this Friday while the changes would be effective on September 2.

Well, I learned this morning that the changes wouldn’t push through! Now I can pursue the improvements I was planning to implement and prove my worth!

But other than that, I realized that God really loves me. Even when Î wasnt asking for it, He gave me my heart and desires. Now He wants me to perform my best!

Basta right now I am one happy employee!

Where the Dining and Drinking Is

You know that I would have wanted a beach wedding which means beach party which means free-spirited party-ing! I knew all this time that I would never hold the reception at a hotel function room and, I guess, any closed space. I once attended a wedding in a hotel and I really felt claustrophobic and the party stiff. It felt like any small wrong move and I’ll be reprimanded, worse, be accused of having no manners. From then on, if ain’t the beach it will be just a garden reception.

When we visited the Guadalupe church, we also checked out its courtyard. It was small, a little dark, perhaps, for my taste. It can hold ideally 150-200 guests (athough we knew one event that it accommodated 250 or a little more BUT it already looked and felt cramped). The rent at PhP10k is beyond reasonable compared with those venues that charged for more that that. However, I did not fall for it at the first sight.

I tried to check other venues within Makati and here were what I considered:

Filipinas Heritage Library

Filipinas Heritage Library

The Filipinas Heritage Library Garden is available venue for events including weddings. Since I love books, might as well hold it somewhere that represents my love for reading. It good for intimate weddings since it can hold a small party, it IS at the heart of Makati and the lights from Ayala and nearby buildings can add to its charm especially for reception. More preferred venue when wedding is during the Christmas season when all of the Makati Business District is well-lighted. I wasnt able to inquire about the rates, though, and I am not sure of the parking spaces.

Kasalikasan is located within The Fort and near our church. I tried to inquire thru email but they did not answer about the rates. i think they prefer a personal inquiry. I had to say, though that the people I exchanged email with were both very accommodating.

I guess the reason I did not pursue to inquire about the two venues was because I was trying to be practical.

At the end I decided on the Nuestra Señora de Gracia Parish courtyard. One, as mentioned, the rental fee was very affordable and reasonable compared with others. Second, it will save time for us couple and guests. Instead of driving from church to the venue in another location, it can be the cocktail hour so the guests can mingle and drink. It gives us ample time for the party and, of course, means an early dinner. Imagine the time for cocktails if the reception is held in another venue can be our dinner time! It also has ample parking space!

Here is the courtyard:

And here are our pics when we reserved for the church and the venue:

After theTyphoon Maring…

After several days of heavy rains and flooding that Metro Manila and Luzon experienced and when it seemed that we are left eith nothing, I know that the Filipino spirit will shine and say these lines:

Now a Techie Bookworm

I love to read!  I dont have a vivid memory on how I developed that habit of reading or learned to greatly appreciate books but I did know that I started reading early.

I knew I finished reading the New Testament, I think, by nine or ten years old.  I finshed reading the complete series of Little Women.  I finished reading Noli Me Tangere before I reached third year high school.  In 3rd year high, I was introduced to Danielle Steel.  From then on I read Mills & Boon love stories to Precious Hearts to Paulo Coelho and Harry Potter and other books that I can get my hands on.  I love buying books and collecting them.  In my dream house, I knew there will be a office-library for me.

I was first introduced to ebooks when I was given a copy of the first Twilight novel. I dont know perhaps because I wasnt into the series so I didnt get to read. I got hold of another one but when I tried reading it, I felt my eyes hurt. After that zi told myself I would still gor for the old school, traditional reading and that is holding a book and flipping its pages.

Until early last year when I bought a new mobile phone. It could save ebooks and while installing apps and tried searching for ebooks when I chanced upon Nicolas Sparks collection. I saved it in my phone but never really appreciated it. I have to admit, though, that it comes handy when you’re outside and waiting.

I became a convert just recently when I became practical. You guys know that I purchased condo unit, a one-bedroom, 27-square meters home. With that cramped space I dont think I have much for a bookshelf. So now I accepted a fact that I will rely on ebooks for my recreational cravings.

I havent turned my back on my ‘books’. I will still buy those ‘worthy’ and a collectible.

Now I will enjoy my first official and first bought ebook…

To All the Moms

If you’re a mother of seven or one, if you’re a stay-at-home or working mom, if motherhood fits you or you feel that what you are doing is not enough, always keep this in mind:

Uncertainty

There is an expected re-org in the newest Supply Chain department where I am under. Though its not yet cascaded and final, I believe changes are due within the month.

And when we hear changes especially after almost four years of doing this job with the people you work with and with the Boss you’ve sought guidance from, it would kinda shake you.

I, of course, should look at this positively. I am just admitting that I am afraid and uncertain at this point. But I have to keep this in mind and heart:
